Richard Vaughan was the CEO in Ireland between 2011–2015. During this time, he developed and launched a new high-performance system which was underpinned by the Badminton Ireland Academy system throughout Ireland. The initial Academy was set up at Trinity College, Dublin.  
 
Richard was the lead coach for much of this period and worked with many of Ireland’s up and coming athletes such as top world junior players Jonathan Dolan, and Nhat Nguyen, and Irish national players Moya Ryan, Kate Frost, Paul Reynolds, Josh Magee, and Sarah Boyle. He also developed a team of great coaches that have gone on to work with the world’s leading players in Ireland and abroad with Irwasnyah the head coach in Indonesia, Ben Caldwell the head German Junior Coach, and Dan Magee the Badminton Ireland Performance Director. 

 

Richard also developed the ‘Teicnic’ talent development programme with several colours of development which has flourished in the club community around Ireland. 

Richard also worked with Olympian and European medallists Chloe Magee, and Sam Magee. Nhat Nguyen latest success was at the Tokyo 2021 Olympic Games and reaching a world ranking high of No36.
